Changing your diet to achieve your health goals can be a challenging and sometimes long journey. That’s why our understanding dietetics team invest the time to properly explain your health condition or needs and how to use food as medicine to get you where you want to be. We do this by using current, evidence-based knowledge and tailor this to accommodate your food preferences, culture and lifestyle.
We provide dietary management for several conditions including anaemia and iron-related issues, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, gut health, general healthy eating advice, gout, kidney disease, osteoporosis & osteopaenia, polycystic ovarian syndrome and weight management (including weight loss or the need for weight gain).
What to expect from an appointment
The first consult will investigate the main reason for the visit. This will involve discussing your medical, social and dietary history, along with taking some measurements such as your height and weight. We will then work with you to discuss the right foods and/or dietary patterns needed to achieve your goals. After the initial consult, blood tests may be required to track your progress in future appointments.
Review appointments will involve discussing dietary and/or lifestyle changes made since the previous consult and may involve further investigation through blood tests if needed. The review appointment will build on information you have been given and making adjustments tailored to your situation. It is important to attend reviews to monitor your progress, address any new nutritional problems and give you the chance to discuss any barriers affecting your health.
